Patrick Sims began Sims Custom Shop in 2000. A PPG Master Refinisher as well as a seasoned guitar player of over 24+ years, Patrick has built guitars & done guitar paint jobs for players & collectors in nearly every state in the USA and on virtually every continent in the World. The Sims Custom Shop name is known for Top-Notch quality & is recognized Worldwide for raising the bar in the custom guitar and guitar refinishing world. This is also why many of the smaller boutique guitar builders as well as a few of the biggest names in the guitar "Custom Shop" business turn to us for their paint work. We have years of experience in the guitar painting field & guarantee the customer will get the highest quality & attention to detail guitar finish available anywhere in the World. To date we have painted over 2,500 instruments.
We specialize in guitar painting & refinishing and have been in the business for over a decade. We are a full serviced Guitar Custom Shop offering services ranging from guitar refinishing, including custom guitar paint jobs, guitar airbrushing, OEM guitar finishes, guitar restoration for vintage instruments & custom made guitars.
We use PPG, House of Kolor & ALSA paints and all of our paint jobs are base coat/clear coat unless the customer specifies otherwise. All of our paint work is done in a Custom Designed Cross-Flow paint booth which eliminates nearly all teh contaminates in the air such as dust & trash that inevitably gets into many paint jobs.

- We believe you get what you pay for, but at the same time we don't believe that a higher price always equals a better job. Some of our competitors price gouge the customer into believing they must be getting the best b/c they're paying the most, and we don't agree with that concept.
We would rather save the customer a few bucks so that they can actually afford to come back to us on their next project, whatever it may be.
- Some of you reading this may have seen a handful of derogatory comments on a couple of websites regarding our work. Let me address this directly. These comments are in some cases fabricated and /or taken out of context. The people attacking me do it on the internet, where anonymity can sometimes cause people to be more vindictive than they might otherwise be. We forgive them for their attacks and hope they can move on to more fulfilling pursuits.
The Truth: In the early stages of our growth we were sometimes overwhelmed with orders. Due to this, we out-sourced some of our work to private contractors that we trusted. In some cases this caused us problems when the contractors delayed in shipping us, in a timely fashion, products we contracted for (Bodies & necks for example). This caused us a lot of stress and caused some of our customers distress as well as very long delays. We deeply regret these past problems. To rectify the problems we have invested in a quantity of top-of-the-line equipment, including a new CNC (computer numerical controlled) machine. We will not skimp on the quality of our products. It does take time to sand, prep, paint, clear-coat, wet-sand, and buff the finishes of our guitars, especially when the appropriate drying time in between steps is added in. It also takes time to have frets Plekked on our guitars, which substantially improves playability and quality. But we assure all our customers that we have addressed, and we think we have solved, the problems caused by our growth. We continue to place the customer first. We will continue to seek out ways to improve the customer experience. We think our recent reviews are proof that we are on the right track. We encourage those wanting more information to contact us directly or to contact those of our customers who have been gracious enough to provide contact info with their reviews on our website. We leave it to the reader's own discernment as to how much weight attacks made by a couple of people who hide behind pseudonyms and do not provide personal contact information should carry, versus the testimonials which satisfied clients using their own names have provided at our website.
Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have and we'll be more than happy to answer them for you.
